Throw Me Something, Mister!!!

It's Mardi Gras, ya'll!!!

As someone who has attended just about every Mardi Gras for at least the past 30 years (even in the second grade when I had the Chicken Pox and Mom told me to just pretend it was my Mardi Gras mask), this is one of those days when I am really missing my hometown. There is nothing like New Orleans on Mardi Gras day.

When I talked about Mardi Gras with my co-workers, and shared a great King Cake (yeah, had to have King Cake), many of them had a misconception of what Mardi Gras is like. Mardi Gras is not just that one thick sea of people on Bourbon Street you see in pictures. As a matter of fact, I've never stepped foot on Bourbon on Mardi Gras day.

Mardi Gras is about family. Staking a spot on Canal Street or St. Charles Avenue, or even in Metairie--I've done them all--and watching the parades roll by while you eat good food and share it with whatever family has staked out the spot right next to you.

In the past few years, I've appreciated just standing back watching the beauty of it all. Sure, I'll catch a bead here and there, and if someone is dangling a Zulu coconut from the side of float, get out of my way! But it is just a majestic display that leaves you absolutely breathless.

If you've never experienced it, get your butt on down to New Orleans next year. There's just nothing in the world like the Big Easy on Fat Tuesday!

Happy Mardi Gras!!!

Fresh Pick!!!

RESCUE ME is the Fresh Pick of the Day at Fresh Fiction! This makes me just so darn giddy. Fresh Fiction is one of those sites I started visiting way before I became published, so to see my book at the top of their homepage is awesome beyond mere words.

Oh, and you want to know what's cool about being the Fresh Pick? You can't buy that advertising, baby. The Fresh Pick is decided on by the Fresh Fiction staff, so there's a few women over there who like me. Well, they like my book. :) Cool beans!

On the Net at APOOO!

I have the honor of being the Author of the Week over at A Place of our Own. APOOO is a fabulous gathering place for booklovers like myself, and I am just thrilled to be there this week.

Hop on over and read my interview, On The Net with Farrah Rochon. You can win an autographed copy of RESCUE ME!

And for you writers out there, you may want to take a peek at Shonell Bacon's fabulous little essay on Showing vs. Telling in APOOO's The Write Life for You feature. As someone who is constantly researching craft, I love the little nuggets I learn there.

Enjoy!

A rising star? Me?

The folks over at Romance In Color consider me a rising star in romance, naming me Feburary's Rising Star. Is that cool, or is that just shivers-up-your-spine cool!

You can read my rising star interview at Romance In Color.

When you're done with the interview, check out the absolutely fabulous 4+ review RESCUE ME received. I am over the moon, especially because the reviewer says she immediately bought the first two books in the series after reading RESCUE ME. That's what I want to happen!

Thanks Romance In Color staff!
